Brutalist Design – This style, fashionable in the world mainly in the 1960s, reached Jerusalem only in the late 1970s. It was in reaction to the lightness and optimism of the 1950s International Style, and communicated strength and fortitude by means of massive fortress-like façades, sculptured forms and textures. In Jerusalem most of the Brutalist design expressions were implemented in educational campuses.
