The inscriptions on the alm boxes read:
- “Donations for Shabbat and Yom-Tov”
- “Alms box for needy families”
- “A secret gift allays anger” (Proverbs 21:14).
- “Donation for Redemption of the soul” (“Pidyon Nefesh” in Hebrew) through prayers.
