Dwelling unit numbers are designated in Hebrew letters. The Hebrew letters ב, ג, ד corresponding to the numbers 2, 3, 4, are inscribed on the keystones above the doors to three dwelling units in the Mishkenot Sha’ananim Neighborhood, built in 1860, as the first housing development outside the Old City walls. Hebrew letters (א-כ”ח) were inscribed on the keystones of the 28 original dwelling units.
