The Beit David Quarter was originally built in 1873, and an additional floor was built in 1902. The memorial plaque honours Rabbi Abraham Isaac HaCohen Kook, the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Palestine who lived in the House from 1922 until 1935.
