The Hebrew texts in many of the inscriptions in the Ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods include a large amount of abbreviations. These are prevalent in memorial plaques, pashkvilim, and other inscriptions (see Hebrew Abbreviations).

Abbreviations with their meaning:

• תבנה ותכונן במהרה בימינו אמן – תובבכיא – May it be built and established speedily in our time, Amen
• מפה עיר הקודש – מפעהק – From here, the Holy City
• שנפטרה לבית עולמה – שנלבע – Who passed away
• תהא נשמתה צרורה בצרור החיים – תנצבה – May her soul be bound in the bond of life
• ימיה ושנותיה – יוש – Her days and years
• משיח צדקנו במהרה בימינו אמן – מצ בבא – Our Just Messiah, speedily in our days, Amen
