11th century interlaced Armenian cross is the dominant motif in the Armenian memorial stone plaque known as Khachkar, dedicated by Armenian pilgrims to Jerusalem. In the 19th century these crosses were set in the outer walls of St. James Cathedral, Armenian Quarter, Old City.
