Ornamental Band of Arches. Some churches and Christian institutional buildings are decorated with non-structural strips of joined blind arches, known also as “Lombardian Arches”. The shape of these arches varies from building to building; some are “simple” curved arches, others are deeper, sculpted or more stylized.
