Institutional Monumentality. Most Christian institutions in Jerusalem, built during the second half of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century, were designed with Neo-Classic symmetrical façades in a European “Neo” style – Neo-Gothic, Neo Renaissance, Neo-Baroque etc. Many of the façades display a rich variety of carved stone decorations with foliated and geometric motifs.
