Family Identities. Monograms in Latin letters of pre-1948 Arab house owners, appear on gates and doorways of some of their houses, built in the 1920s and 1930s, in affluent Arab neighborhoods, such as Talbieh and Katamon. This phenomenon is one of the manifestations of Westernization, prevalent mainly in houses of Christian Arabs. The design of the monograms varies in its decorative patterns, ranging from floral combinations to geometrical Art-Deco designs.
